On-line Lecture and Workshop taught by Mela Hoyt-Heydon

Saturday, June 26, 2021 from 9:00am to 12:00pm (PDT)

and

Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 9:00am to 1:00pm (PDT)

Just as a bustle dress relies on a Victorian corset, bustle or bustle pad and petticoats, a 1920’s dress needs a slippery slip for it to slide gracefully over. Join Mela Hoyt-Heydon on June 26, 2021 from 9:00 AM to noon as she shows you several ways to pattern a slip suitable for any twenties dress. Discussion and demo will include how to accommodate a variety of cup sizes, along with how to handle saddle bags for a prominent backside. In addition, suitable fabrics will be discussed, no matter what your budget is.

Join us again on Sunday June 27, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a sew along as Mela sews up two of the patterned slips from Saturday. She will show you how to fit yourself along with how to work with another friend to fit each other. Fitting straps that don’t fall off your shoulders, creating a smooth rolled hem, when to pleat and when to gather, how pin tucks can be your friend and cutting and applying bias bindings will be included.
