My name is Samantha Barry, and I am your Costumer's Guild West Vice President. Since I joined the Board in October, I've been trying to attend as many of our events, workshops, and sewing circles as possible, and I've been lucky enough to meet a lot of you there. I hope to meet even more of the membership at Costume College this summer.

If you haven't met me, I've been attending Costume College since 2015, when I moved to Woodland Hills and discovered that there was a costuming convention practically in my backyard. I've loved wearing costumes since I was a kid, but I didn't get serious about sewing and costuming as a hobby until after college, when I started attending fan conventions and other costumed events in cosplay. I was so excited to discover an entire event and organization full of people interested in making costumes better.

I've been a Guild member since my first Costume College, and as a Board member I want to do everything I can to help make CGW and Costume College the best they can be. While it can take a while to develop deep friendships. the people I've met through CGW have been nothing but kind and welcoming, and I want to find ways to extend that spirit to new members and new costumers.

To that end, my (virtual) door is always open! Please feel free to email me, or message me through any of my socials (IG: @fallengoddess; Discord: @semigeekgirl) if you have any questions or concerns about what CGW is doing, or if you have suggestions for things we can be doing better. I can't promise to make all of your suggestions a reality, but I can promise to listen thoughtfully to anything you bring to my attention.

I'm still getting the hang of this job, so I welcome any feedback you have for me. I know that together we can help CGW to continue moving forward, to continue welcoming new costumers, and to continue educating and spreading the joy (and shared frustrations!) of sewing costumes.

Thank you!
Samantha
